RE: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Effective immediately, all Starfish Family Services locations will be closed until at least April 5, 2020.

All families will be contacted this week by your Family Service Guide or center staff to confirm contact information so we can communicate critical updates about center operations or support services during the closure.

If your child has medication that you need to pick up from the center, each location will be open tomorrow, March 17, 2020 between 8:00am - 10:00am.  If you need to pick up medication from either Thorne or Plymouth/Canton (Allen School), please contact your Family Service Guide for further direction.

Starfish hopes to provide food distribution to families during the closure, please discuss your families' needs when you are contacted.  Educational resources will also be available for families through our website.

Starfish will continue to communicate relevant updates as the coronavirus crisis evolves, through text and email.

Here are recommendations from Governor Whitmer’s office for Individuals and families at home:

  1. Learn about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing.

  2. If you have respiratory symptoms, STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK. Call your health care provider’s office in advance of your visit.

  3. Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, like doorknobs, keyboards, cell phones, and light switches.

  4. Communicate and reinforce best practices for washing hands and covering coughs and sneezes.

  5. Be prepared if there is COVID-19 in your household or a disruption of daily activities in your community. For example, maintain a supply of medications, food, and other essentials in your house. Consider alternative shopping options such as curbside pickups or online deliveries.

  6. Access services as much as possible online or by phone.
